The value of exports of members of the Ras Al Khaimah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RAKCCI) totalled AED3.671 billion ($1 billion) during the first nine months in 2020

The was announced by Mohammed Hassan Al Sabab, Acting Director-General of the RAKCCI, who noted that the emirate’s diverse economy has helped maintain the stability of its economic performance during the Covid-19 pandemic, as reflected by the value of exports of the chamber’s members.

Eman Al Hayyas, Deputy Director-General for Trade Services and Business Development at the Chamber, noted that Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member countries topped the list of countries that import products from chamber members, in terms of export value, accounting for 37 per cent of exports, valued at AED1.356 billion, followed by non-Arabic speaking Asian countries with 20 per cent, AED730 million, Arab countries with 18 per cent, AED661 million, European countries with 10 per cent, AED343 million, non-Arabic speaking African countries which accounted for 9 per cent; American countries accounted for 5 per cent, and Oceania and other countries 1 per cent.

Saudi Arabia topped the list of countries, in terms of numbers of certificates of origin, with 3,208 certificates covering goods valued at AED582 million, she added. Oman came second with the number of certificates reached 1,429 (AED145 million), Iraq ranked third with certificates of origin reached 1,148 (AED197 million), followed by Egypt with 818 certificates (AED194 million), India with 711 certificates and value of goods (AED89 million), followed by Kuwait with 655 certificates (AED 147 million), Bahrain with 522 certificates (AED310 million), and the rest of the countries which totaled 153 countries from the different continents in the world.

Al Sabab added that the exported goods by the Chamber’s members were distributed across 19 sections of goods according to the harmonized system. Of these, electric devices and spare-parts topped with 20 per cent of the total exports, amounted to AED732 million including nuclear reactors, boilers and devices which reached AED212 million. The chemical industries and the associated industries reached AED485 million with 13.2 per cent of the total, topped by pharmaceutical products amounted to AED169 million, followed by normal metals and products thereof which reached AED476 million, with 13 per cent.

The section of iron or steel products topped the rest of sections of this category with AED363 million, followed by plant products group with 11 per cent amounted to AED403 million. Exports of coffee, tea, spices and seasonings amounted to AED303 million, followed by transport equipment section representing 10.8 per cent, with AED395 million including the transport vehicles and accessories with AED257 million.

Metal products accounted for 8.3 per cent, with exports at a value of AED305 million. Products of stone or glass plaster and articles thereof AED269 million, representing 7.3 per cent, followed by plastic and its products, rubber and products thereof amounted AED218 million, with 6 per cent, followed by food and beverage amounted to AED175 million, with 5 per cent and the rest of the goods with different rates.
