Misra

Emirates Maritime Arbitration Centre  (Emac), a first-of-its-kind entity in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region, has announced the appointment of Captain Jitendra Misra, Managing Director of Emarat Maritime and member of EMAC’s Board of Trustees to its Executive Committee.

Bringing a wealth of experience with him, Captain Misra has worked in the maritime industry for four decades. His career began as a deck cadet with India Steamship in 1971, where he ascended the ranks to become the youngest Master in the Indian shipping fleet at just 25 years old.

After eight years in command, he stepped ashore to join a commercial firm in the UK.

Captain Misra came to Dubai in 1990 to set up the ship-owning division for a reputable organisation. The company became known as Emarat Maritime, where he has been serving as managing director since 1997.

Welcoming the appointment, Majid bin Bashir, the Chairman of the board of trustees and executive committee, said: “Captain Misra has a lifetime of maritime experience that gives us a well-rounded committee to support the light touch case management we offer and EMAC’s overall growth.”
