The Board of Directors of the Expo Centre Sharjah has announced that the 48th and 49th editions of the Watch & Jewellery Middle East Show (WJMES), which was expected to kick off in September 2020, has been postponed to April 2021.

The centre explained that the decision was made after consultations with the authorities and the participating countries, as part of its keenness to ensure the health and safety of exhibitors, visitors, and staff in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The centre added: “The early announcement of WJMES’ new date will enable industry leaders to formulate their plans in advance.”

This would also help enhance the efforts made to boost the watch and jewellery industry in the region in the post-Covid-19 scenario and make sure that the exhibition enjoyed the success it had in previous years.

The Expo Centre emphasised that the contracts signed with the exhibitors and participating companies are valid for the upcoming editions, noting that the current global travel restrictions won’t hamper the show’s new date, making it a perfect chance for exhibitors to once again meet with their existing and new customers and an opportunity for businessmen and dealers to conclude deals and strike new partnerships.

“We are looking forward to welcoming the participants and delegations from all over the world to the new edition of WJMES which will have the same success as of the previous years.”

The centre underlined that the conditions will remain under evaluation while updating the guidelines and instructions regularly in accordance with the new developments in the global arena.

Over the course of 27 years, WJMES, which is organised and hosted by the Expo Centre with the support of the SCCI, has reinforced its outstanding position and reputation as a pioneering and reliable platform for the most creative trends in watches and jewellery from around the globe. WJMES brings together the leaders of this industry from various countries of the world, making it one of the most prominent economic activities in Sharjah.
