Korea’s Seoul National University Bundang Hospital (SNUBH) said that its consortium has signed a 4.8 billion won ($4 million) contract to establish BESTCare 2.0A, a Korean hospital information system (HIS), in Saudi Arabia, according to a report in Korea Biomedical Review.

The SNUBH consortium consists of SNUBH, SK Telecom, and Ezcaretech.

SNUBH exports its hospital information system to the Royal Commission Health Services hospital in Yanbu. The consortium plans to install the system at the Royal Commission Health Services (RCHS) hospital in Yanbu and its eight primary healthcare centres.

RCHS is a general hospital with 342 beds and operates eight clinics throughout the city to provide medical services to the Royal Commission's employees and residents. According to SNUBH, the Korean hospital has also received Joint Commission International (JCI) and Saudi Central Board of Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI) certifications, given to medical institutions that focus on quality and patient safety.

“As hospitals managed by Saudi Arabia's two government departments - the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, and the Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs -- use Korea's medical information system, we have proved K-ICT's excellence once again,” SNUBH President Baek Rong-min said.

EZcaretech CEO Wee Won-ryang also said: “The RCHS in Jubail, a regional base hospital for Covid-19, has received great help in patient care using our medical information system. That helped us sign an additional contract even when moving between the two countries is restricted.”
