Agthia appoints Alan Smith as new CEO



Agthia Group, one of the region’s leading food and beverages companies, today announced the appointment of Alan Smith as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Smith succeeds Engineer Jamal Salem Al Dhaheri, Acting CEO of Agthia Group, who was appointed in March 2020 by Agthia’s Board of Directors for a transition period.

Smith joins Agthia Group with robust experience in managing international markets across the FMCG industry covering the Middle East and Pakistan. His breadth of knowledge and expertise in driving growth in new markets and leading global operations underpins his success in the region, as a proven leader, said a statement.

He holds strong cross functional experience having led strategic initiatives, business turnarounds, manufacturing build outs and multi-country operations. His most recent position was with Mondelez International as Managing Director – Middle East & Pakistan where he spent over 19 years in various leadership roles overseeing sales, logistics and operations for the GCC and ensuring growth across the business.


Wellube charts new growth strategy with key appointment



Leading global engineering specialist and pipeline maintenance expert, Wellube, a Unique Group company, has announced the appointment of Garry Kidd as Managing Director, as it completes a major rebrand as part of the renewal of the business, strategy and corporate vision.

Kidd, brings over 13 years of experience in senior leadership positions to the role, 10 years of which were based in the Middle East. Kidd will be based at Wellube’s headquarters in Sharjah, UAE. From here, he will develop the services portfolio whilst expanding the company’s global network. Investment in the company’s new visual identity reflects its ambitions for growth, and with secured long-term service contracts in excess of $4 million, strengthens its market position. New CEO for Aircraft Accessories and Components Co



The Board of Directors of Aircraft Accessories and Components Company (AACC), a subsidiary of Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI), has announced the appointment of Engineer Mazen Johar as CEO to oversee the company’s operations.

Eng Johar takes over from Dr Mansour Bineid who served as CEO of the company from March 2016.

The decision to appoint Eng Johar as AACC CEO comes in recognition of his deep knowledge and extensive executive leadership experience of over 20 years, having held many leading positions in various industries, said a statement.

Prior to taking on his role as Deputy Minister for Industrial Services at the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, Eng Johar served as Executive Director and CEO of Nova Water, COO – Ground Handling at Saudia Cargo, and Vice President – Commercial and Support Services at Basic Chemical Industry. He has also held several leadership positions at Procter & Gamble International Corporation during his tenure of nearly 18 years in the company.


McDermott appoints new senior VP for EMEA



McDermott International has announced Tareq Kawash as Senior Vice President for its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, effective last month.

Kawash was formerly the Senior Vice President for the Europe, Africa, Russia and Caspian (EARC) region, which has been combined with the Middle East North Africa (Mena) region.

 “Tareq has a wealth of experience and is a strategic, high-performing leader who understands the challenges and opportunities of our business and is committed to finding the best solutions for our customers,” said David Dickson, President and CEO of McDermott.

Kawash has nearly 30 years of experience in the engineering and construction industry with domestic and international assignments for oil and gas projects. Prior to McDermott’s combination with CB&I in 2018, he was CB&I’s Group VP, Engineering and Construction International. Prior to joining CB&I in 2000, he worked with KBR for two years and Consolidated Contractors Company for seven years.  Kawash has a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Tufts University and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Virginia.
