SAIF Zone completes work on new district

The Sharjah Airport International Free Zone (SAIF Zone) has announced the completion of development works on ‘U2 Area’, a new dedicated district for stores and warehouses.

The U2 Area features 70 world-class and mergeable stores with each of which spreading over an area of 600 sq m. They were designed this way to enhance the absorptive capacity and the overall area to suit the investors’ and customers’ needs.

The new area will help attract new investors in key sectors and support the existing investors to expand their operations and add new warehouses for their businesses

It also represents a qualitative addition to the privileges that SAIF Zone delivers to its customers and is an added value to the activities of companies and their operational, industrial and export operations.

The new stores have been equipped with modern equipment according to best international practices in field. They were also provided with modern offices, advanced cooling systems, and innovative roofs design to help reduce heat absorption, maintain resources and environment, and provide the highest levels of security and safety for workers.

With U2 area, the total number of SAIF Zone’s warehouses and stores now surpasses 2,000, making it among the top free zones in the Middle East in terms of the number of warehouses that suit all needs, Al Mazrouei said.

He stressed that the free zone will continue move forward in line with the wise vision and directives of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to supports the emirate’s economic diversification and enhance its position as part of the global economic system.

 

GERMAN GROUP INKS DEAL

Earlier, Germany-based Schüco International KG announced the signing of a rental contract with Sharjah Airport International Free Zone (Saif Zone).

Headquartered in Bielefeld, Schüco International KG develops and sells system solutions for windows, doors and façades. With more than 5,400 employees worldwide, the company operates in more than 80 countries and achieved a turnover of 1.67 billion euros in 2018.

As per the deal, Schüco will lease 14 warehouses covering a total area of 8,400 sq m, making it the biggest number of warehouses rented for a single company inside the free zone, said Al Mazrouei, after signing the deal with Dr Jörg Westphal, the Executive Senior VP at Schüco International KG.

“Schüco’s decision to open a new branch in Sharjah is yet another global testament to the competitive advantages that we offer to investors looking forward to availing our growing investment opportunities in the real estate sector,” stated Al Mazrouei.

“We are happy to have a reputable global company such as Schüco joining SAIF Zone. It was a step in the right direction since the construction sector is playing a growing pivotal role in Emirate and the wider region. It is indeed one of the mainstays of the economic diversification strategy developed by the emirate to prepare for the future,” he added.
