Devos: strengthening global footprint

Global leading metallized paper manufacturer AR Metallizing has announced the successful completion of their acquisition of Eurofoil Paper Coating GmbH in Berlin from Aluminium Investment Company Ltd. The transaction was first announced on November 11, 2019 and has been approved since then by the relevant regulatory authority.

Eurofoil Paper Coating GmbH is a leading European manufacturer of laminated and metallized inner liners. In the past 60 years, they have built a comprehensive portfolio of inner liners encompassing laminated, metallized and pure slitted and coated paper products. The acquisition strengthens AR Metallizing’s global footprint and the inclusion of Eurofoil Paper Coating GmbH’s staff takes AR Metallizing’s headcount to approximately 700.

Eurofoil Paper Coating GmbH’s plant in Berlin is well-equipped and enjoys a strong asset base with highly automated equipment, including water-based lacquering and metallizing lines, which are among some of the fastest in the world. The plant enjoys all the key certifications to serve its customers efficiently.

“We are delighted to have completed the acquisition within such an ambitious timeframe and look forward to fully integrating Eurofoil Paper Coating GmbH under the AR Metallizing brand in the coming weeks,” Dr Bart Devos, AR Metallizing’s CEO, said. “As well as growing our production capacity and meeting increased customer demand, the acquisition of Eurofoil – Paper Coating GmbH has expanded the number of products we can offer for direct food contact packaging applications. Likewise, the acquisition will allow us to strengthen our position as a provider of choice for multinational firms looking to use eco-friendly, paper-based packaging and labelling materials,” added Devos.

“The acquisition of Eurofoil Paper Coating GmbH marks a new chapter for AR Metallizing, and they can count on Nissha’s ongoing support as they look to extend the portfolio of products available under the AR Metallizing brand, most notably sustainable paper based materials,” Junya Suzuki, chairman of the Board, President and CEO of Nissha, said.

“We are happy that the acquisition of Eurofoil Paper Coating GmbH is completed and that we can continue our journey as part of the AR Metallizing team,” Michael Koblitz, general manager of Eurofoil Paper Coating GmbH said. “We look forward to collaborations with our new global colleagues and contributing to the successes of AR Metallizing going forward,” Koblitz added.

Leonard M Levie, chairman of the Board of Aluminium Investment Company Ltd and of its parent, American Industrial Acquisition Corporation, stated: “We are proud and grateful for the growth and development of Eurofoil – Paper Coating GmbH under our stewardship. The managers and employees of this company are genuinely experts in their field, dedicated to serving their multinational customers.
