October 2019

Airbus Cabin Electronics has inaugurated its first Service Centre for the Africa and the Middle East regions at Dubai Airport Freezone.

The facility will serve local and regional carriers as well as customers in India and Turkey and will be an important addition to Airbus’ continued growth and investment in these regions.

The inauguration event was attended by Mikail Houari, president of Airbus Africa and Middle East, and Dr Mohammed Al Zarooni, director general of Dubai Airport Freezone Authority (Dafza), as well as VIPs from across the industry.

The Dubai Service Centre will provide repair and spare part services for cabin components and systems as well as customer onsite technical services such as cabin system training. The centre will provide greater flexibility for Airbus customers with spare parts being maintained closer to airlines’ operations.

Mikail Houari, president, Airbus Africa and the Middle East, commented: “The launch of this facility is yet another milestone in our long-term commitment to the UAE and wider Middle East and Africa markets.

“By creating greater proximity to our customers here at Dubai Airport Freezone, we will be able to continue providing world-class services in a region which we continue to see growth and opportunities for further expansion. We are looking forward to continuing to work closely with our customers and key stakeholders in the region, to maximise the opportunities for further development and success in the aerospace sector,” added Houari.

Dr Mohammed Al Zarooni, director general of Dafza, said: “Dafza is committed to support multi-national companies expand their operations within the free zone, to better serve the wider Africa and Middle East regions. Our long-term partnership with Airbus, reaffirms our continuous efforts to provide the ideal environment which has been instrumental in driving foreign investment into the emirate.

“The launch of this facility will support further growth in the regional and global aviation industry. It is a great initiative aligned with the UAE’s commitment to localization. Also it will play a key role in the UAE’s economic diversification plans and development of the wider regional aerospace sector. We are happy to continue working with Airbus and we look forward to celebrating many more milestones in the future,” Al Zarooni added.

Airbus has had a strong presence in Africa and Middle East since it first opened its offices more than four decades ago.
