New VMTs for high performance

New DLT-V72 Facelift series: compact design

Advantech, a leading provider of industrial computing platforms, has launched its new DLT-V72 Facelift series of rugged vehicle-mounted terminals (VMTs).

The DLT-V72 Facelift series comprises four models – DLT-V7210, DLT-V7212, DLT-V7212 P+, and DLT-V7210 K/KD. Since their initial launch in 2015, Advantech’s DLT-V72 terminals have become a popular industrial computing solution for warehouse management, port management, heavy-duty operations, and industrial manufacturing applications, the company said in a statement.

Now, in an effort to upgrade the DLT-V72 terminal, Advantech has adopted a more stylish and compact design for its new DLT-V72 Facelift series. To support a wider range of applications, these terminals are also equipped with additional features, such as RF switches, 802.11ac standard WLAN, LTE connectivity, and smart sensors. Moreover, all DLT-V72 Facelift terminals can be fitted with Advantech’s screen blanking solution to further enhance driving safety.

With the launch of DLT-V72 Facelift series, Advantech introduces two brand new terminal models, DLT-V7212 P+ and DLT-V7210 KD, which further expand the DLT portfolio. The DLT-V7212 P+ model features a 12-inch display with projected capacitive (P-CAP) touch control. The compact design not only saves in-vehicle installation space, but also minimises obstructions to road visibility, thereby improving driving safety. Meanwhile, the DLT-V7210 KD model is the first terminal that features a P-CAP touchscreen with screen defroster currently available in the market. Designed for operation in the toughest cold-storage environments, DLT-V7210 KD offers the advantages of P-CAP touch control combined with an integrated screen defroster.

SAME RUGGED DESIGN

All DLT-V72 Facelift series terminals are equipped with unique firmware

All DLT-V72 Facelift series terminals are equipped with unique firmware

The new DLT-V7210 and DLT-V7212 Facelift models are equipped with the now-iconic red line through the front panel. This means all of the DLT-V72 Facelift series terminals share the same design as the rest of the DLT-V72 series for a unified and strong brand image. Additionally, all models are 5M3 certified for shock and vibration tolerance, IP66-rated for water and dust resistance (with the exception of DLT-V7210 K/KD, which is IP65 rated), and built with an IK08-certified touchscreen for high durability.

Powered by an Intel Atom E3845 quad-core processor, the DLT-V72 Facelift series delivers excellent computing performance and supports multiple OS, including Windows, Android, and Linux, for easy system migration. Additionally, to enable rapid and streamlined deployment, Advantech DLT-V72 Facelift series are certified for various value-added third-party software, including the SOTI mobile device management solution and Navis N4 terminal operating system.

WIRELESS CONNECTIVITY

Advantech’s DLT-V72 Facelift series terminals have been upgraded to support WLAN (IEEE 802.111 ac/a/b/g/n), WWAN (LTE, UMTS, HSPA+, GSM, GPRS, EDGE), and Bluetooth 4.2 communication technologies to ensure superior connectivity for real-time communications and uninterrupted data transmissions. The new WLAN driver combined with a SparkLAN wireless WLAN card optimize roaming performance for seamless Wi-Fi roaming. Moreover, with the addition of LTE technology, DLT-V72 Facelift terminals can support LTE-based applications and outdoor operations in diverse industries, including the port and dock, airport, agriculture, and power generation sectors.

NEW MODELS

Although end-users typically prefer a large display screen for superior readability, safety is an important consideration when designing industrial computers. To minimise obstructions to road visibility, Advantech’s DLT-V7212 P+ features a compact 12-inch display screen with thin bezel to ensure that the terminal does not block the drivers’ view.

For applications that require keyboard input, Advantech’s DLT-V7210 KD offers a 10-inch widescreen display with full 55-key and number pad for efficient data entry. In addition to a robust P-CAP touchscreen, all DLT-V72 Facelift series terminals are equipped with unique firmware that enables the P-CAP touchscreen to support nearly every type of glove, ensuring excellent performance under gloved operation. Furthermore, in the past, only resistive touchscreens could support a screen defroster for cold-storage applications. However, Advantech’s DLT-V7210 KD is the first terminal to offer a P-CAP touchscreen with screen defrosting technology, making it ideal for even the toughest cold-storage environments.

The system ships with 4GB RAM and 8GB to 256GB CFast storage. Other features include 2x RS-232, 4x USB 2.0, and single USB 3.0 and GbE ports. There’s also a 2W speaker.

DLT-V72 Facelift supplies IP66 water and dust resistance for the entire VMT and supports -30 to 50-degC temperatures with 10 to 90 per cent non-condensing humidity resistance at 40-degC. Other ruggedisation features include 5M3 (EN 60721-3-5) and MIL-STD 810F certifications for shock and vibration tolerance, as well as IK08-rated impact protection for the screen.

The fanless system weighs 3.7 kg (10.4-inch) or 4.65 kg (12.1-inch) without the optional 20-minute UPS battery and other accessories. There’s a 12/24/48VDC terminal block power supply with an automatic power on/off functional via vehicle ignition. Various mounting options are available.
