Duqm gets $1bn wind IPP

OMAN Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) has revealed that the sultanate’s first utility-scale wind power project, with a world-scale capacity of 300 MW, is expected to come up in Duqm by 2023, said a report. Dubbed ‘Wind 2023’, the wind-based independent power project (IPP) will be built at an estimated cost of around $1 billion, added the Oman Daily Observer report.

 

Fujairah, Rotterdam in deal

THE officials of Fujairah Municipality and the city of Rotterdam in the Netherlands have signed an  agreement in connection with the northern emirate’s ‘Sustainable Industrial Development Project – Phase Two. The deal is aimed at implementing a sustainable industrial development plan for Fujairah. The MoU was signed by Mohammed Saif Al Afkham, Director-General of the Fujairah Municipality, and Ahmed Aboutaleb, Mayor of Rotterdam, in the presence of HH Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah.

 

Saudi unveils $1.5bn solarplan

SAUDI ARABIA has revealed details of Phase Two of its National Renewable Energy Program (NREP) that will see seven solar photovoltaic (PV) projects being developed in the kingdom which will generate 1.52 GW energy and attract investments worth over $1.51 billion. NREP is a strategic initiative by the Renewable Energy Project Development Office (Repdo) of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy being implemented under Vision 2030 and the King Salman Renewable Energy Initiative.

 

A’Saffa Foods’ project on track

A’SAFFA Foods, Oman’s largest fully integrated poultry and biggest snack food producer, revealed that its OR45 million ($116.8 million) strategic expansion project, which aims to raise chicken meat production capacity by 100 per cent at their farm-site in Thumrait, is on track, said a report. The project will be completed in two phases – with each phase contributing 50 per cent to the new capacity, Engineer Mohammed Suhail Al Shanfari, chief executive officer of A’Saffa Foods, was quoted as saying in a Times of Oman report.
