Bosch Rexroth offers new possibilities

Bosch Rexroth offers complete solutions – from sensors to the cloud

Many machines and plants have still not entered the digital age. But they need to be networked in order to take advantage of the benefits of the Industrial Internet of Things (IoT). The new IoT Gateway V3 now provides additional connectivity thanks to close collaboration with various partners, said Bosch Rexroth.

For the secure remote maintenance of machines, encrypted data transmission and a protected machine network provide advanced security features. In addition, Bosch Rexroth now offers a completely pre-configured IoT Gateway Rack that can be immediately implemented in the production environment using plug-and-play.

Data is the key for the optimisation of the overall equipment efficiency (OEE). With the IoT Gateway, companies are getting closer to the strategic goal of networking all relevant machines and systems and visualising processes for the purposes of evaluation and continuous improvement. The local monitoring solution of the IoT Gateway V3 provides local visualisation of production data.

Sophisticated functions allow the user to quickly identify optimisation potential in their production facility and hence can increase efficiency.

In order to enable the secure remote maintenance of machines, encrypted transmission of data and increased protection of the machine network, the IoT Gateway has been supplemented with enhanced security mechanisms to protect it against viruses and trojans. An easily configured VPN tunnel can ensure the secure transmission of production and machine data to higherlevel systems. In addition, the IoT Gateway can be used as a secure endpoint for remote maintenance applications. A firewall protects against unauthorized access and prevents the spread of malware within the machine network. The administration and maintenance of the IoT Gateway is done via the device portal, with which IoT devices can be managed throughout their life cycle.

NEW HARDWARE OPTIONS

The IoT Gateway V3 supports the latest CISS sensor generation from Bosch. The sensors are integrated using plug-and-play mode via the USB interface in no time and offer a variety of different sensor functions. In comparison with conventional sensors, the commissioning time is shortened many times over and there is an increase in the number of measured variables.

The IoT Gateway Rack is a complete all-in-one solution that allows the IoT Gateway to be immediately applicable in the production. It offers various interfaces, CE marking, IP65 protection class and enables the user to enjoy uncomplicated and fast application in production. And the costs of implementation are dropping significantly.

PROCESSING APPS

By working together with Amazon Web Services and Oracle, new cloud solutions can be offered to analyse, visualise and store the data collected by the Gateway. Both the Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the Oracle IoT Cloud connect the IoT Gateway to cloud services through processing apps. From the Gateway›s live data, Oracle uses the IoT asset monitoring to create the machine›s digital twin. AWS provides extensive analysis and storage functionalities that are very easy and flexible to combine. Scalable solutions can thus be quickly utilized without any startup costs. Thanks to this collaboration with its partners, Bosch Rexroth is able to offer its customers a unique and IoT-based complete solution.
