Styro opens $19m new production unit

December 2018

Styro, a leading expanded polystyrene (EPS) manufacturer in the Middle East, has opened a 40,000-sq-m production facility in Abu Dhabi, UAE, with an initial investment of Dh70 million ($19.05 million).

The new facility will help meet a growing demand for Styro’s products and services – especially within the construction, interiors/fit-out and packaging sector, said a statement from the company.

Styro is working on several iconic projects in the UAE, valued over Dh20 billion ($5.44 billion); including the Expo 2020 pavilion, it said.

Some of Styro’s past projects include the Blue Water Island, City Walk and Lourve Abu Dhabi amongst others.

Styro offers Class A fire retardant, heat resistant, tremor-proof, and eco-friendly products, making it a suitable solution for any construction, interior and exterior decoration, architectural applications, packaging and merchandising displays.

The company recently showcased it latest products and project designs at the Big 5 exhibition held last month at Dubai World Trade Centre, in Dubai, UAE.

Walid Wakim, general manager partner of Styro, said: “Styro has become a product of choice for several iconic developments and projects in the UAE.”

“We recently opened our showroom and a second manufacturing unit in Abu Dhabi to support our growth and demand for Styro products,” he said.

“Our products are carefully engineered making it unique and versatile to deliver any creative and durable designs,” he added.

Earlier in November, the company also participated at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (Adipec) 2018 where it showcased some unique applications of pontoons and buoys. It also introduced diverse mechanisms through which it can control the usage of petroleum sea platforms.

“Our expert engineers and designers continue to evolve and deliver applications and techniques that will help in building a safe yet effective way of building pontoons that would be long-lasting and environment-friendly. In this exhibition, we showcased our wide range of products that are mainly utilised in marine services,” the company said in a statement.

Additionally, it introduced new solutions to all oil and gas industries with the help of Styro equipment and application. “We ensure that our expanded polystyrene materials can be easily transportable, lightweight and aim to offer cost-effective solutions to all our clients,” it added.

“With several corporations and real estate agencies looking for an experienced firm to deliver pontoons, we regard Adipec to be a wonderful platform that would give us the opportunity to interact with several oil-petroleum companies who would be interested in joining hands with us with respect to any sea or marine projects,” it said.

With several years in this business, we have realized the importance of exhibiting and portraying a brand image and so have chosen to be part of this renowned exhibition/conference.
