Alba recognised with HR excellence award

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), an international aluminium smelter, was recently honoured with the ‘Human Resources (HR) Excellence Award’ by the Fifth Arab Gulf Forum for its human resources development.

Organised under the patronage of the Minister of Labour and Social Development, Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Bahrain, the forum was held under the theme “Managing Innovation” and featured a number of expert speakers from professional and the academic fields, said a statement.

Alba’s senior HR manager Hamad Al-Shaibeh received the award during the ceremony in the presence of the undersecretary of Ministry of Labour and Social Development Sabah bin Salem Al Dosari and general secretary of the forum Dr Fahad Al Shehabi, it said.

Alba’s chief administration officer Waleed Tamimi said: “We believe that our success is closely linked to the success of our people. For over forty years, we have been promoting a work-environment based on motivation, preparation and alignment to yield the best results.”

Earlier, the company announced it is the winner of the ‘2018 International Safety Award’ with Merit from the British Safety Council for its year-round diligent efforts towards maintaining safety and well-being of its employees.

The International Safety Awards by the British Safety Council recognises and rewards organisations that are committed to corporate safety and health.

Alba will be awarded at the International Safety Awards Gala Dinner, which will be held on April 27, at Grosvenor House Hotel, London, UK.

Alba’s chief executive officer Tim Murray said: “Employee safety and health has always been our number one priority as we truly believe that safety and productivity are mutually inclusive.”

“We have built an excellent track record for safety in recent years and I thank our employees for their hard work and commitment,” he said.

“It is an honour to receive the award, which is a testimony to our efforts towards maintaining a safe and healthy work environment,” he added.
