Nearly 55 per cent of the work has been completed on the second phase of the extension of the Emirates Road (part of the emirate’s Ring Road) in Ras Al Khaimah and the project is due for completion in the second quarter of 2018,.

Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development, inspected the progress of work on the $24.5 million project, said the state news agency Wam.

‘’The RAK Ring Road, once completed, will reduce travel time for vehicles to the emirate by more than 30 per cent and will serve the emirate for the next 30 years,’’ he stated. It will give motorists from Ras Al Khaimah easy access to highways leading to Abu Dhabi, Dubai and other emirates, he added

Meanwhile, the UAE government has started the second phase of dredging operations in connection with the berth extension project at Saqr Port in Ras Al Khaimah, reported Wam, citing a notice to Mariners issued by the Harbour Master of RAK Ports.

Dredging operations will take place over an area of approximately 750 metres radius and the existing project exclusion zone, in which shipping is not allowed to enter, will be extended temporarily towards the western side of the Saqr Port breakwater, said the report.
