$72bn projects in Kuwait

KUWAIT is set to launch 20 major development projects worth KD21.7 billion ($71.6 billion), including a railway network project and waste management plant, as part of its 2018-2019 development plan, said a report. Of these projects, Kuwait’s massive hydrocarbons sector has the lion›s share with a value of KD11.9 billion, accounting for nearly 55 per cent of the total, reported local Arabic language daily Al Nahar.

 

Dubai to host Cash&Carry unit

DUBAI Wholesale City (DWSC) has announced that Jaleel Holdings, a top (FMCG) wholesaler, will construct a cash and carry facility with an investment value of $27.2 million in the fully integrated wholesale hub. Spanning an area of 300,000 sq ft, the premises will include a fully integrated direct sale warehouse accommodating more than 250 employees, as well as a flagship store, storage and cooling facilities and manpower accommodation in the DWSC labour villages.

 

Oman’s PEIE sees 25pc jump

OMAN’S Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) revealed that investment applications in various industrial estates grew by 25 per cent to reach 76 applications in January 2018, compared to 61 applications during the same period in 2017, said a report. The highest number of investment applications was recorded in Raysut Industrial Estate with 14 applications, followed by 12 in Sohar Industrial Estate, nine applications in Sur Industrial Estate, seven  in Sumail Industrial Estate, three in Nizwa Industrial Estate, and two in Al Buraimi Industrial Estate, added the Times of Oman report.

 

GPCA, GSO sign MoU

THE Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) and the Gulf Standardization Organization (GSO) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on developing world-class standards for the chemical and petrochemical industry in the GCC.

The agreement was signed at GPCA’s headquarters in Dubai, UAE, by Dr Abdulwahab Al Sadoun, secretary general, GPCA, and Nabil Amin Mulla, secretary general, GSO, said a statement.
