Empower connects 75 buildings

Bin Shafar: achieving a milestone

Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world’s largest district cooling services provider, has connected 75 new buildings to its services so far this year.

The company also announced good progress towards deploying its services to many other buildings in the coming months.

“This is an important milestone for us as district cooling is an environment-friendly technology and the way forward to achieving a green economy. We’re pleased that developers have realised the importance of this technology and in the coming years, we will see more building owners and developers converting from conventional chilling methods to district cooling,” said Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower.

Over the years, Empower has boosted its production and commissioned new plants as well as launched new customer service centres to reinforce its commitment towards the environment by connecting to maximum properties in Dubai. Empower’s great service, clients’ trust, and the company’s continuous research to develop better cooling technologies have helped the company succeed in fulfilling its goal of being connected to a large number of buildings in Dubai, he said.

“At Empower, we’re determined to ensure that developers reduce their dependence on conventional methods of cooling. We’ve introduced new technologies and solutions that guarantee not only energy efficiency, but also offer higher cost savings. Having 75 buildings register with us so far in the year is indeed an achievement and we’re confident that our new set of solutions will register more growth in the coming months,” added Bin Shafar.

Connected to Empower’s Command Control Centre, the buildings deployed with district cooling solutions have not only witnessed operational efficiency, but also recorded improved cost savings, he said.

The advanced technologies and systems used by the Command Control Centre provide real-time access to information; define supply and consumption patterns in each building unit through the click of a button, in line with Dubai Government’s vision of making Dubai a unique smart city in the world, the company said. This helps to deploy the resources effectively. It also assists to plan preventive maintenance schedule during winter months more effectively.

“Over the years, we’ve built our district cooling business on delivering a stable and consistent return to our customers within an environmentally-sustainable approach and we’re confident that as developers recognise the importance of this friendly technology, we will have a bigger role to play in developing this technology globally,” concluded  Bin Shafar.

Empower currently operates more than 1.250 million tonnes of refrigeration (TR), providing environmentally responsible district cooling services to large-scale real estate developments such as Jumeirah Group, Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Ibn Battuta Mall, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai World trade Centre Residences, and Dubai Design District, among others.
