WFES & IWS

January 16 to 19

Business France, the national agency supporting the international development of the French economy, is once again running a French pavilion at the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) and International Water Summit (IWS) running in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The Gulf States aim to include 7 per cent renewable energy in their energy mix (equating to 1,500 MW) by 2020. Their energy consumption requirement is set to double between now and 2020. The UAE is investing massively in renewable energy, water and the environment. Masdar City, the world’s first eco-city (with $22 billion invested), should be home to 50,000 inhabitants and 1,500 businesses by 2020.

The many projects underway in the Gulf States are attracting high-performing French firms in the renewable energy, water and waste sectors. Attending WFES & IWS gives these firms an opportunity to promote their offerings in the Middle East, expand their portfolio of contacts and consolidate their local presence.

Gulf Industry Fair 2017

February 7 to 9

The organisers of Gulf Industry Fair, the northern Gulf’s leading industrial B2B trade show, have entered into a strategic partnership with Gulf Projects & Tenders (gulfprojects.me), a GCC-wide project tracking database.

Under the terms of the agreement with Hilal Conferences & Exhibitions (HCE), gulfprojects.me will be the Knowledge Partner for the upcoming Gulf Industry Fair 2017, to be held under the patronage of HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister of Bahrain, from February 7 to 9 at Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre.

Gulfprojects.me is the definitive database and project information tracker for companies and individuals working on, or interested in bidding for, key industrial projects in the GCC. The service currently has a live and exclusive database of more than 1,300 GCC projects covering nine key sectors (industrial, infrastructure, oil, pipelines, power, water, petrochemicals, refineries and gas), with easy-to-track project updates, proprietary project information and data and contact details for key project personnel, supported by live e-mail updates and alerts. Furthermore, subscribers have access to a tailored ‘Project on Demand’ service to meet their precise needs. Gulf Industry Fair is supported by leading industrial giants in Bahrain, including the National Oil & Gas Authority (Noga) in association with Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco), and Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), both of whom are in the midst of billion-dollar expansion projects.

PaintExpo 2018

April 17-20, 2018

Although it is only been seven months since PaintExpo 2016 closed with record breaking results, promoters FairFair GmbH are already able to report lively demand for exhibition floor space at the upcoming, leading international trade fair for industrial coating technology.

At the beginning of November 2016, 170 companies had already made firm bookings for their booth locations at PaintExpo, which begins from April 17 to 20, 2018. With roughly 75,000 sq feet, net exhibition floor space already amounts to more than 50 per cent of the level reached at the last event. And thus for PaintExpo 2018, booth floor space offerings will be significantly increased.

Roughly 170 companies from 15 countries have already made firm bookings and secured ideal booth locations. They include nearly all of the national and international heavyweights from the various exhibition segments.

World Conference of Family Doctors (Wonca 2020)

November 25-29

Abu Dhabi has won the rights to host the 2020 edition of World Conference of Family Doctors (Wonca 2020), a prominent biennial conference of family physicians that will take place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec).

Founded in 1972, Wonca is a not-for-profit professional organisation representing family physicians and general practitioners. It currently has 118 member organisations in 131 countries and territories. Some 500,000 family doctors and medical professionals are members of the organisation.

The event is expected to draw over 4,000 delegates from across the globe and will discuss a variety of topics related to the development of family medicine, said the organisers. Abu Dhabi was given a tough competition by Lisbon, Portugal, before it was chosen as the host city by Wonca’s council members representing its seven regions during the 2016 Conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Saif Saeed Ghobash, director general, Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), said: “We are excited that Abu Dhabi has been chosen as the host country for the event.”

“The emirate has been a very strong contender as an emerging destination for international events due to its excellent infrastructure, world class business and leisure tourism facilities, multi-purpose event venues, great variety of hotels and seamless connectivity with all parts of the world,” he stated.
