Shaw starts new tenure at Asry as CEO

Bahrain-based Arabian Shipbuilding and Repair Yard (Asry) has appointed Andrew Shaw as its new chief executive officer, effective early January 2017.

Shaw re-joins the company after having previously held the position of general manager of Asry Offshore Services division from 2009 to 2014, said a statement from the company.

He has over 25 years of experience in the global maritime industry, and was most recently group managing director for two and half years of a leading UK ship repair and conversion company, it said.

Shaikh Daij Bin Salman Al Khalifa, chairman, Asry, said: “With the current challenges facing the Middle East ship repair market, we were looking for a candidate that would bring not only relevant industry experience, but also a proven track record of good leadership, as well as a dynamic hands-on approach to facing the challenges in our future.”

“Shaw is all these things, and is also intimately familiar with the inner workings of our company having worked here for almost five years previously, positioning him perfectly to take the yard forward,” he added.
