Expo Centre Sharjah is well known for its consumer shows

Leading distributors, retailers and dealers are coming together to offer exciting discounts to customers in Sharjah and the Northern Emirates at the Consumer Electronics Fashion – The Big Sale 2016, which will take place in December, in Sharjah, UAE.

Expo Centre Sharjah (ECS), the region’s premier exhibition organiser and events venue, will be the venue for the fair to be held from December 1 to 3. The event will offer discounts as high as 80 per cent on selected products, said a statement.

The event has been strategically positioned to attract the maximum footfall – there is no better time to shop for fashion, accessories, home appliances, smartphones and electronics than the National Day weekend, festival season, and, above all, it is the time when year-end inventory clearance takes place,
it added.

“Expo Centre Sharjah is well known for its consumer shows. The MidEast Watch & Jewellery Show held twice a year with a combined footfall of close to 120,000 visitors is one of the leading exhibitions in the region. We wish Dome Exhibitions similar success for its debut The BIG Sale – Consumer electronics Fashion event in Sharjah,” said Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO, Expo Centre Sharjah.

With some key players like Sharaf DG, Splash, Jashanmal and Better Life already booking their space, Dome Exhibitions, which organises Abu Dhabi Shopper, is hoping to recreate the same magic in Sharjah with Consumer Electronics Fashion – The Big Sale 2016.

“Sharjah has never had a big-ticket consumer electronics and fashion products fair. We intend to fill that gap and offer consumers from Sharjah and the Northern Emirates a platform that will offer them a great opportunity to choose from a wide range of electronics, home appliances, fashion, footwear, accessories and travel kits at the best price,” said Antoine Georges, managing director of Dome Exhibitions.

Since the UAE is one of the leading consumer electronics markets in the Mena region and has the highest rate of household consumption expenditure per capita, organisers are planning to attract 75,000 visitors to the three-day event. Experts point out that demand for electronics is on the rise due to disposable incomes, expanding middle class population and growing internet penetration.

STRONG GROWTH

Meanwhile, ECS has reported strong performance in the first half (H1) of 2016, registering an impressive rise in the number of events held and increase in visitor turnout. According to first half 2016 figures, ECS hosted 15 consumer and trade exhibitions and conferences as against nine events during the same period last year, witnessing over 65 per cent surge; and attracted 320,000 visitors, registering a 20 per cent rise.

“These figures are a clear indicator of a growing exhibitions industry in the Emirate of Sharjah, and a result of our effective promotion of local industries. What is remarkable about these figures is that the exhibitions industry has successfully withstood the after-effects of low oil prices and geo-political tensions,” said Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO, Expo Centre Sharjah.

“The exhibitions hosted by ECS are characterised by their diversity and specialisation, which contributed to attracting more visitors. Our focus on external organisers has also helped in bringing more events to Sharjah. The growth is also a reflection of our superior infrastructure and technical capabilities and marketing prowess,” added Al Midfa.
