Potain cranes at Dubai resort

Manitowoc’s Potain cranes at the Dubai jobsite

Manitowoc has reported that nine of its Potain MCT 205 cranes have been chosen to work on the construction of apartments in Dubai, the contractors happy with their lifting capabilities, hoist inverter system and cabin technology.

The cranes were delivered at the end of 2015 and are expected to remain on the jobsite until early 2017.

The Potain cranes are owned by NFT, Manitowoc’s Potain distributor in the UAE, who supplied them to the project’s main contractor and property developer Al Barari. The luxury resort incorporating both apartments and villas has been named “Seventh Heaven.”

“With the increasing demand for residential property in Dubai, our client needed a crane that is quick and easy to set up, as well as strong and reliable,” said Mazen Barbar, sales and operations manager, NFT Dubai. “The Potain MCT 205 was chosen for this project because it offers the latest technology and its topless design makes it perfectly suited to crowded jobsites where space is limited. In addition, our customers are always looking for the best in terms of performance and ability and the MCT 205 gives users a competitive advantage over other cranes.”

The Potain MCT 205 has a maximum capacity of 10 tonnes while at its 65 m jib end it can handle an impressive 1.75 tonnes. The crane’s modern design makes it quick to erect and easy to transport, with the heaviest group of components weighing just 7.9 tonnes, while the full 65 m jib can be placed onto a truck bed in a single lift.
