Ikea to open second store in Jeddah

An Ikea store: great brand recognition

Ikea Saudi Arabia, a leading home furnishings retailer, has announced plans to open its second store in Jeddah.

The new facility, coming up at the Al Salaam Mall in the city, is expected to be operational in 2017 and will be the second Ikea store in the Western Region.

Ikea Saudi Arabia is a member of the Ghassan Ahmed Al Sulaiman Furnishing Co Ltd and offers an affordable and extensive range of home furnishing products of good design, value, and functionality, according to a statement.

Since the opening of its first store in Jeddah in 1983, Ikea Saudi Arabia has two other flagship stores, one in Riyadh and the other in Dhahran, with plans for further expansion.

All three stores closely follow the popular self-serve, self-assembly concept and feature an impressive array of inspirational designs and home improvement solutions. Ikea Saudi Arabia attracts nearly 10.8 million people annually.

Saud Al-Suleiman, CEO of Ikea Saudi Arabia, said: “The opening of yet another store in the kingdom testifies to Ikea Saudi Arabia’s continuous efforts to be closer to customers and create a better everyday life for the many people, today and every day.

“Ikea Saudi Arabia has been an active player in the Saudi economy for over 30 years and our commitment to the community continues, particularly to our youth. With approximately 250,000 young Saudis entering the job market every year, this presents a huge potential for us. Through the opening of our new store, we remain committed to creating quality jobs for the Saudi community and supporting the vision and aspirations of the kingdom’s pioneering 2030 plan.”

The three-storey store at Salaam Mall will include a showroom, restaurant and market hall that will provide customers with greater convenience and a wide selection of home furnishing inspiration and solutions at incredibly low prices, the statement said.

The 23,000 sq m store will feature more than 7,000 exclusively designed items, three model home interiors, approximately 53 room settings, a supervised children’s play area accommodating 80 to 100 children, a 400-seat restaurant serving Swedish specialities such as meatballs with lingonberries and salmon plates, as well as Saudi cuisine.
