Jacobs wins Sahara deal

JACOBS Engineering Group has won a three-year contract from Saudi Arabia-based Sahara Petrochemicals (Sahara) to provide general engineering services at its Jubail Industrial City facilities.

Jacobs is a leading global provider of technical, professional and construction services.

It will provide services to projects for Sahara’s propane dehydrogenation, polypropylene, chlor alkyl, ethylene dichloride and peripheral utilities operating facilities.
 

 

OAPFD holds workshop

TWENTY investment units including pension funds and commercial banks attended a workshop conducted by the Omani Authority for Partnership for Development (OAPFD).

The workshop highlighted successful offset projects and potential investment opportunities in Partnership for Development (PFD) projects in Oman.

Dr Dhafir Awadh al Shanfari, CEO of OAPFD, said PFD’s aim is to diversify national income. 
He added that the sultanate’s infrastructure encouraged both national and overseas investments.


 

Deal inked with Irish firm 

OMAN’s State General Reserve Fund (SGRF) has signed a deal with Ireland-based Kenmare Resources for a $100 million equity investment in the mining company, a report said.

The deal with the SGRF is part of a new $275-million capital raising by Kenmare. It gives SGRF up to 29.2 per cent of Kenmare.

Michael Carvill, managing director at Kenmare said his firm was encouraged by the interest shown by investors.


 

Garmco groundbreaking held

BAHRAIN-based Gulf Aluminium Rolling Mills Company (Garmco), one of the largest downstream aluminium facilities in the Middle East, held a groundbreaking for a Natural Gas Lines and Receiving Facilities Project.

The new facility will provide natural gas for the recently announced $55-million remelt plant and upgrade Garmco’s current natural gas facilities. The project will help Garmco become a regional leader in aluminium recycling.
