The Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) facilitated the participation of Arab companies at the Apas Fair held by the São Paulo Supermarket Association (Apas) last month.

The ABCC pavilion at the event, held at Expo Centre Norte, São Paulo, had companies from the UAE, Jordan and Tunisia.

Products showcased included olive oil, dates, spices, chocolates, rice, cakes, beverages and camel’s milk as well as plastics for packaging, air conditioning systems and perfumes.

Present at the pavilion was a liaison officer from Dubai Exports, the emirate’s export promotion agency. It represented 15 UAE participating companies.

Delegates from eight Jordanian companies were present while three Tunisian firms showcased their offerings at the fair along with the country’s Agricultural Investment Promotion Agency.

Dr Michel Alaby, secretary general and CEO, ABCC, said the chamber was at the disposal of the Arab companies and served as a bridge between exporters and importers. “We believe this is an important part of our active efforts to further cultivate ties between the two sides.”

A programme of activities was arranged for the Arab delegations’ visit to Brazil. This included a visit to the cereal wholesale hub near São Paulo’s Municipal Market for business talks with olive oil and date importers.
