Bids deadline extended 

STATE-RUN Saudi Aramco has extended to July 17 the bidding deadline for a clean fuels project at its biggest oil refinery in Ras Tanura, sources familiar with the plan said.

The potential $2 billion scheme aims to remove sulphur from refined products.

It has already had at least three bidding rounds. The deadline has been extended from a May closing date because companies needed more time to prepare bids.

 

 

Oman plans onshore fish farm 

THE Omani government has planned to set up in Sur a major bio-marine industrial cluster, anchored by the nation’s first ever land-based fish farm, as part of its efforts to kick-start the development of a successful aquaculture industry, news reports said.

The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), which administers the nation’s industrial parks and logistics hubs, has allocated an 8,000 sq m plot at Sur Industrial Estate for the project. 

Shumookh Investment and Services, the investment arm of PEIE, is supporting the venture.

 

 

Haulotte busy at MTC site

HAULOTTE Group has deployed its full range of work platforms at the Abu Dhabi Midfield Terminal Complex (MTC) construction site.

About 70 units of various Haulotte models are now at work.

The construction of MTC and expansion of Abu Dhabi International Airport are vital to enable the diversification of the emirate’s economy.
 

 

Veolia wins Oman contract

BE’AH (Oman Environmental Services Holding Company) has entrusted Veolia and its local partner Al Ramooz National LLC the management of municipal waste in the governorates of Al Dhahirah and Al Buraimi in north-west Oman.

Under this new contract, Veolia will transport municipal waste for 250,000 people and operate two landfills. Its Omani partner Al Ramooz will be in charge of waste collection and developing a materials recovery facility.

Veolia, present in Oman since 2006, has been involved in several projects including the Sur desalination plant extension.
