Freight Systems’ new facility

Dubai-based Freight Systems has broken ground for an advanced warehouse and distribution centre in the logistics district of Dubai South.

The facility, scheduled for completion next year, will include a 5,000 sq m cold storage zone for temperature-sensitive goods primarily related to the retail, pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors. There will be 40,000 pallet locations in a G+10 configuration.

 

Hoyer names GAC as partner

The Hoyer Group, a global bulk logistics provider, has appointed Dubai-based GAC, a global provider of logistics and marine services, as its official agency partner in 17 countries in the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa.

The GAC network will represent Hoyer’s Deep Sea business unit for the movement of ISO tanks around the world and for extending operations to new locations.

Oman Air selects SmartKargo

Oman Air, the sultanate’s national carrier, has selected SmartKargo to power their cargo sales and operations, beginning June 2016.  

SmartKargo is the only cargo platform that is 100 per cent cloud-based and which delivers a range of benefits for users, including electronic airway bills, highly flexible pricing and ratemaking, said a statement.

Oman Air operates a fleet of 40 wide-body and narrow-body aircraft, including brand-new Boeing 787s, to 50 destinations throughout the Gulf and Middle East and beyond to Europe, Africa, South Asia, and Southeast Asia

 

Cranes arrive in Sohar

Four new post-Panamax quay cranes have arrived at Sohar Port and Freezone’s state-of-the-art container terminal, as it continues its next phase of expansion.

The new cranes arrived by sea after a long journey from Shanghai, where world-leading quay crane specialists ZPMC manufactured them.
