Dafza team honoured

The Dubai Airport Free Zone Authority (Dafza) has been declared the ‘IMA Middle East Finance Team of the Year 2015’ by the Institute of Management Accountants, the global association of accountants and financial professionals.

The award recognises the team’s contribution to the success of the free zone.

Mohammed Al Zarooni, director general of Dafza, said the team had displayed the highest level of professionalism.

Garmco’s safety campaign

Bahrain-based Gulf Aluminium Rolling Mill Company (Garmco) has announced the launch of its new safety awareness campaign under the title ‘You can make this the safest place.’

A major international aluminium rolling mill and one of the largest downstream aluminium facilities in the Middle East, Garmco said the campaign would be held under a ‘Superheroes’ theme and include a series of safety awareness activities by external senior lecturers and doctors.

The company’s staff were required to attend a series of sessions for a week.

Vacancy for ISA consultant

Oman Rail is looking to appoint an Independent Safety Assessment (ISA) consultant for delivering a safe and reliable national rail network.

The winning company will be a competent agency that will provide independent safety assessment and safety audit services covering the length of the 2,135 km national rail network.

John Lesniewski, chief commercial officer, Oman Rail, described safety as part of a ‘trilogy’ of cornerstones – the others being integration and development.

Garmin dealership awarded

Transworld Aviation has won the worldwide dealership of Garmin, a leading provider of navigation products.

The award marks Transworld Aviation’s efforts to provide better support to customers in its influence market comprising the Middle East, Africa and Southeast Asia.

Abdullah Al Suleimani, chairman, said: “Transworld Aviation has long-term contracts with most government and commercial operators in its market, having high Garmin content on their varied fleet of fixed and rotary platforms.”
