Alfa Laval wins Mideast deal

Alfa Laval Group – a world leader in heat transfer, centrifugal separation and fluid handling – has won an order to supply compact heat exchangers to one of the biggest phosphoric acid plants in the world to be built in the Middle East. The order, booked in the Energy & Process segment, has a value of approximately SEK55 million ($7.6 million) and deliveries are scheduledfor 2015.

The compact heat exchangers will be used in the production of phosphoric acid, an important ingredient in phosphate fertilisers.

“The petrochemical sector in the Middle East has grown significantly over the past 10 years, and this order confirms our position as a trustworthy supplier of equipment to an industry with very high demands,” says Lars Renström, president and CEO of the Alfa Laval Group.

The Middle Eastern petrochemical industry reached an annual production of 121 million tonnes in 2012, and is accounting for 6 per cent of the global production capacity, according to a McKinsey study.

Earlier, the company announced it won an order to supply compact heat exchangers to an oil production facility in Canada. The order, booked in the Energy & Process segment, has a value of approximately SEK80 million and delivery is scheduled for 2015.

The Alfa Laval compact heat exchangers will be used for heat recovery, providing reused heat in the oil production process, thereby maximising energy efficiency.

“This is the second large oil and gas-related order within a short period of time in North America, confirming our position as a strong supplier of equipment for the demanding applications seen in this industry,” said Renström.
