BITUMENA BEGINS OPERATIONS

THE new BituMena facility of Mena Energy DMC, a major regional energy product related company, has started operations at the Bahrain Logistics Zone (BLZ). The BLZ is the kingdom’s only dedicated customs-bonded, value-added logistics park.

Transportation Minister and Economic Development Board (EDB) acting chief executive Kamal Ahmed attended the inauguration, which marks an important step for the BLZ.

Ahmed reiterated the importance of the project and its positive contribution to increasing exports, creating jobs, and strengthening Bahrain’s position as a logistics hub.

 

NICO REVENUES UP 7PC

NICO Middle East, a subsidiary of top offshore support vessel firm Topaz Energy and Marine, reported revenues of $89.4 million in the first quarter, up seven per cent over the previous year.

The period was marked by continued strong and profitable growth across the group’s activities with ebitda up 22 per cent. This growth is primarily attributable to new vessels that have been added to the fleet and the improved utilisation the company had achieved across its core fleet.

 

NEW CARGO ROUTES ANNOUNCED

EMIRATES SkyCargo, the freight division of Emirates, has added Mexico City and Atlanta to its flight schedule, further expanding its freighter network to more than 50 destinations around the world.

On both routes Emirates SkyCargo uses its Boeing 777 freighter aircraft, which is capable of carrying 103 tonnes of cargo, and with its main deck being the widest of any freighter aircraft it is able to uplift outsized cargo and carry larger
consignments.

Both cities are major cargo destinations in North and Central America.

 

HYUNDAI ALLOCATED PLOT

ABU DHABI Ports Company (ADPC) and Hyundai Engineering & Construction have signed a contract agreeing the allocation of a dedicated 40,000 sq m plot of land and warehouse facilities covering 4,536 sq m at Zayed Port.

The space will be used for the import and export of cargo to support the Satah Al Razboot (Sarb) project.
