Sharjah-based ready mixed concrete maker Conmix has announced it will step up investments to build a presence in the Middle East-North Africa region and beyond on top of a network of plants and offices it has already created across several global regions.

The company did not elaborate on its investment plans.

Currently, it has offices and manufacturing units in the UAE emirates of Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah as well as in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Amman in Jordan; Tunis, Tunisia; Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; Lusaka, Zambia; Coimbatore and Cochin in India, and Taguig City in the Philippines. Its portfolio includes ready mixed concrete, pre-mixed plaster, construction chemicals and piling and water treatment solutions, while the core business continues to be ready mixed concrete.

"Conmix is a pioneer in the field of pre-mixed plaster in the UAE. With state-of-the-art dry mortar plants located in Sharjah, Jebel Ali and Ras Al Khaimah, it is one of the leading manufacturers in the Middle East," said a spokesman from the company.

Conmix achieved success with innovations and new products that have improved quality and boosted its
green credentials.

CONSTRUCTION CHEMICALS

"In view of the objective to offer quality products, Conmix launched construction chemicals which include non-shrink grouts, concrete repair systems, surface treatments, bonding agents, floorings and coatings, sealants, waterproofing, tile adhesives, tile grouts and admixtures," the spokesman said.

"With the backing of its vast experience in the construction industry and related sectors, Conmix has ventured into the field of piling. This has given it the opportunity to diversify significantly in the market. With a team of experienced and technically sound personnel, latest high-tech rigs and state-of-art technology, it aims to provide its clients with quality solution for their foundation works. The services under this division include piling, shoring, anchoring and de-watering."

The addition of water treatment additives into Conmix’s business portfolio has given the company growth prospects and wider reach. It is offering cleaning, de-greasing and disinfecting additives for the treatment of wastewater and potable water. Tailor-made solutions are also offered to prevent and reduce contaminations such as scale deposition, corrosion build-up and microbiological fouling in the systems, all of which helps to provide optimum heat transfer efficiency. These services are applicable in cooling towers, boilers, chillers and swimming pools.

The company asserts it can provide customised solutions for problems encountered in industrial water treatment.

"Conmix products form an integral part of innumerable buildings and civil engineering works in the UAE and elsewhere. Its products are currently being exported to more than 30 countries," says the spokesman.

The company operates a central laboratory in Sharjah and other laboratories in Dubai and Ajman. Its technical team supports clients in installing samples, training on application, providing and maintaining machinery, product selection and troubleshooting. All products meet relevant international standards, it says.

MINIMISING FOOTPRINT

"Conmix is crossing the threshold into future technology by developing sustainable construction materials containing low levels of volatile organic compounds."

Conmix has multiple production facilities with proximity to raw materials, minimising the operating footprint. It has followed a policy to prioritise environment friendly practices from the very beginning. The company was one of the first to install filters to stop emissions of dust from silos and highly specialised equipment is used to re-cycle waste.

Conmix was established in 1975 as a joint-venture between the Bukhatir Group and German-Gulf Enterprises. The Bukhatir Group is a diversified conglomerate operating in industries such as building materials, contracting, information technology solutions, real estate, shopping malls, sports, media and education.

German-Gulf Enterprises is a UAE-based engineering and trading company representing some of the world-renowned manufacturers of heavy vehicles and equipment used in the construction industry.

Through its team of experienced engineers and concrete technologists, the company can supply high-performance durable concrete for all applications and requirements. It has a number of modern computer-controlled batching plants with a combined capacity of approximately 200,000 cu m per month.

Located in Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah, the plants ensure prompt and smooth delivery of concrete to sites. The logistics of ready mixed concrete delivery is managed through the utilisation of a large fleet of transit mixers as well as mobile and stationary concrete pumps. Additionally, the company can provide hydraulic concrete distributor booms when required.
