Adding EtherNet/IP to Centerline 2500 gives manufacturers detailed production data leading to higher asset availability and reduced maintenance costs

01 September 2013

Industrial automation specialist Rockwell Automation has announced the addition of EtherNet/IP to its low-voltage Allen-Bradley Centerline 2500 IEC motor control centres (MCCs). This will allow manufacturers access to production information throughout the enterprise and can help them take advantage of simplified device programming with Premier Integration.

EtherNet/IP integration by Rockwell Automation provides access to more detailed production data, allowing plant engineers to predict potential problems and help prevent equipment failures. This ultimately results in higher asset availability and reduced maintenance costs.

Leveraging a single, standard network simplifies communication for the entire enterprise and provides users with the flexibility to control, configure and collect data from any point in the system. In addition, by taking advantage of Premier Integration, users can configure and commission their MCCs faster with Rockwell Software Studio 5000 engineering and design environment, helping to eliminate errors associated with redundant programming.

Furthermore, the Ethernet/IP connection allows Centerline 2500 MCC users to access information remotely. This lets personnel safely monitor, troubleshoot and diagnose the MCC without exposing them to potentially dangerous conditions and power equipment. Knowing how an MCC is performing from anywhere also saves time by minimising the need for maintenance personnel to enter the MCC, avoiding the need to suit up with personal protective equipment to reduce the risk of exposure to hazardous conditions.

With embedded Allen-Bradley IntelliCenter 4.0 technology, Centerline 2500 MCCs use a pre-configured and pre-tested network with integrated hardware and software. This level of integration helps reduce installation time with a plug-and-play setup, and can help minimise facility downtime by quickly providing intelligent diagnostic and predictive failure information.

The Centerline 2500 MCC is designed using over 100 years of motor control experience to provide global customers with a solution to meet standards and requirements anywhere in the world.

The Centerline 2500 is tested in accordance with IEC/TR 61641 for low voltage arc fault containment, as well as type tested in conformance with IEC 61439-2. In compliance with industry standards in terms of safety, performance and reliability, Centerline 2500 MCCs are further certified in the following:

• CE Conformance marked
• ABS Marine Certification
• CCC conformance marked at 690V (China)
• KEMA certification (TTA)
• GOST-R/K certification
• ASTA 3439 (Australia)
