Leading German consultancy firm Lahmeyer will conduct a feasibility study on the proposed sale of plants owned by Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) to Qatar Electricity and Water Company (QEWC).

A Kahramaa official, quoted by the Gulf Times, said Kahramaa and (QEWC) jointly signed an agreement with the German firm to make way for the study.

The study will focus on the economic and technical aspects of the sale of the plants owned by the corporation to Qatar Electricity and Water Company and on Kahramaa's buying electricity and water back from QEWC.

Kahramaa deputy chairman Hamza Al Kuwari, QEWC's Fahad Al Mohannadi and Lahmeyer project manager Dr U Dammel initialled the pact.

Under an operational and administrative agreement signed between the corporation and the company on June 2, the company was allowed to operate the plants and supporting facilities until a final deal on the sale was reached, the official said.
