SHG eyeing Jeddah business

Jasmin: opportunities galore

Syska Hennessy Group (SHG), an international consulting, engineering and commissioning firm, hopes to build on business it has gained in Jeddah over the years and is in the process of clinching new contracts, its co-managing director for the Mena region says.

Greg Jasmin said SHG remains very active throughout Saudi Arabia, particularly in the Jeddah region. “While we cannot share details on specific SHG contracts in the Jeddah area at this time, we are closing in on some significant projects that our company will play a major role in,” he said.

In past years, the company worked on Jeddah projects Saudi Naval Expansion Programme, the Ministry of Public Works & Housing and Petromin Vocational Schools.

“We view projects within this region as a critical component to the continued growth of Syska Hennessy Group throughout the entire Middle East region. We see great opportunities on the horizon particularly in Saudi Arabia and expect our Jeddah business to continue to grow over the next several years,” Jasmin said.

“The Jeddah market’s position as the principal gateway to Islam’s holiest city Makkah is what makes this region such a critical growth area.  The region welcomes in millions of visitors each year who are travelling to Makkah for religious pilgrimages, so new construction projects and developments are constantly emerging to ensure the market’s facilities are up-to-date and equipped to handle the area’s extraordinary pilgrimage influx.”

The company provides mission critical design, commissioning and facilities management (FM), consulting, information communications technology (ICT), and intelligent building systems (IBS) for data centres, healthcare, aviation, tall tower mixed use developments, and higher education institutions throughout the entire Middle East.

A GOOD FIT FOR JIP PROJECTS
Jasmin said SHG would be a good fit for projects related to the vibrant Jeddah Islamic Port (JIP) considering it has been managing projects in Saudi Arabia and the entire Middle Eastern region for decades.

“Our years of international experience in mixed use projects, as well as the aviation, hospitality, and healthcare sectors, lends itself perfectly to managing work in the Jeddah port as well as the entire surrounding region. We know the landscape of the Middle East and Jeddah markets well, have built many key relationships and have the expertise to handle all facets of work in the region from master planning to development and implementation of work.

“Syska Hennessy Group currently does not have a dedicated office in Jeddah yet – our Middle Eastern operations headquarters is located in Dubai. However our team is deeply familiar with the Jeddah region and makes frequent visits to the area for project work that we are involved in.

“Saudi Arabia is vital to the continued expansion of Syska Hennessy Group in the Middle East. It’s by far the biggest market in the region and offers incredible opportunity for growth. We continue to manage new and existing projects and are building relationships throughout Saudi Arabia. It’s great to see that companies within the region are beginning to understand the comprehensive value proposition Syska Hennessy brings.

“We remain committed to the Saudi Arabian market and are making strides towards reaching our goal of becoming the area’s premier provider of engineering services.”

FM SERVICES UP THREE TIMES
Jasmin said in the past 12 months alone, Syska Hennessy’s facility management services had increased three times in Saudi Arabia based on projects located across the Saudi market.

“We are committed to growing our organisation around the world. We currently have a staff of over 500 located in 16 cities both in the US and abroad, and we are expanding all the time.”

Commenting on the facilities management industry in the Gulf, Jasmin responded: “While overall FM work is prevalent throughout the region, Syska Hennessy Group sees facilities management as in its infancy in the Gulf when it comes to technical buildings such as data centres and healthcare facilities. This offers a great opportunity for our company, given our extensive FM experience.
