CAVOTEC has announced it has been contracted to supply advanced ground support equipment for the new Emirates Engineering Centre A380 line maintenance hangars at Dubai International Airport.

It will install and commission in-ground pop-up utility pits and pre-conditioned air (PCA) units for four new A380 line maintenance hangars at Emirates Engineering Centre. Delivery is due to start soon with commissioning slated for end-2013.

“The company possesses exclusive technology for pre-conditioned air delivery systems, capable of cooling all types of aircraft, including Code-F A380 Super Jumbos,” a company statement said.  “The proposition of this distinctive solution is based on energy efficiency and ecological sustainability, as it minimises energy consumption and operational costs while dramatically cutting down carbon emissions by up to 66 per cent,” it added. Cavotec’s equipment has previously been selected by Emirates Engineering Centre to provide utility services to the Emirates fleet.

Emirates Engineering Centre is one of the largest and most advanced aviation maintenance facilities in the world with the largest single free-spanning roof structure in the Middle East. With the addition of four line maintenance hangars, it will boast 12 hangars, spanning 55 hectares on the north side of the airport.

Cavotec’s state-of-the-art in-ground pop-up systems serve the Dubai International Airport’s equipment Concourse C, Concourse B, and the newly opened Concourse A which is dedicated for Emirates’ growing fleet of Airbus A380’s. These pop-up systems supply parked aircraft with water, fuel, power and pre-conditioned air.
