Vortex International’s new electric dredge pump available to rent exclusively through Ashtead

LEADING subsea equipment solutions specialist, Ashtead Technology, has launched the subsea market’s smallest electric dredge pump at the Ocean Business 2013 exhibition held in the first half of April in Southampton, UK.

The pump will be available to rent exclusively from Ashtead Technology through an agreement with the manufacturer, Vortex International.

The electric pump is targeted at the 2.5 to 3 inches dredge market and specifically towards small electric ROVs. This is a rapidly developing market, with increasing demands for innovative tooling to enhance the capabilities of small and efficient electric ROVs.

The pump can be easily customised to meet complex customer needs and differing on board power supplies. The dredge motor has been fitted with an industry standard six-pin Burton plug and can be connected to different types of ROV electrical boxes through a simple, custom-made power cable.

Allan Pirie, CEO at Ashtead Technology, said: “Our customers are demanding more innovative tooling solutions, due to their use of smaller ROVs and vessels, as well as looking to efficiently optimise their operating costs. Vortex has pioneered this solution and we are delighted to be able to offer the new electric dredge through Ashtead Technology.
