THE company also announced its ongoing drive to maintain a zero accident work environment for employees is generating positive results on a plant wide basis.

The company has achieved a major safety milestone clocking 4 million work hours without Loss Time Injury (LTI).

Chief executive Tim Murray along with members of the executive management team and other managers marked this safety milestone by meeting the employees at the gates and congratulating them on their feat.

Employees were further commended on their commitment to be proactive on matters related to safety and for filing reports on near-miss incidents and showing intolerance towards unsafe behaviour.

Commenting on the success, Murray said, “Safety achievements are truly a collaborative effort, and am proud to say that the involvement of Alba employees was crucial in enabling the company to attain this milestone. I would like to congratulate each and every employee, therefore, for playing their part in this success story and for taking steps in translating these safety goals into tangible action plans.”

Alba had recently organised the HSE Zero Accident Week with the objective of enhancing awareness of health, safety and environment-related issues amongst employees and contract staff.

Over the past year, the company launched a safety behaviour observation campaign and has seen widespread reporting of near-miss incidents.

Site visits by executives and management team have helped in communicating and addressing concerns on safety related issues with employees.
