The company is a premier paints supplier in the Gulf

HEMPEL, one of the world’s largest independent suppliers of decorative, marine and protective coatings, held a special presentation on the latest developments in eco-friendly paints in the company.

At the presentation held during the fourth annual Sustainable Building Materials & Construction Technologies (SBMCT) Conference at Hyatt Regency, Dubai, Hempel highlighted that its products were developed to provide enhanced health and environmental benefits.

Johnson Puthanangady, regional R&D manager of Hempel Middle East, led the presentation that included an exclusive demonstration of Hempel’s Contex Thermoguard, a top-selling exterior coating brand that is formulated with special pigments to help reduce temperatures inside offices and houses.

Puthanangady said: “Governments across the region are increasingly enforcing new regulations that are geared towards sustainable and environment-friendly development. Dubai, for instance, has introduced its own green building code, which has prompted developers and contractors to proactively adopt sustainable construction materials, technologies and techniques. Hempel’s eco-friendly paints have therefore been developed to satisfy growing sustainability and environmental concerns. Specifically, Hempel’s green profile is optimised for reducing VOC emissions, reducing hazardous material, reducing health hazards, minimising energy consumption and reducing waste.” He described the SBMCT event as a great platform to discuss the major breakthroughs that Hempel has achieved to support “the sustainable development agenda of our society.”

Hempel takes advantage of its extensive network of manufacturing units and sales offices to supply a wide range of paint solutions for various projects in the oil and gas and shipping sectors, as well as decorative paints for villas, apartments, hotels, hospitals, and infrastructure projects. Hempel was founded in 1915 and is approaching 100 years of being a leading global supplier of decorative, marine and protective coatings. The company has been operating in the Middle East for more than 30 years.

Hempel’s plants in the Middle East (western area) are located in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait and Syria.  In the Middle East (eastern area) it has production facilities in the UAE and Qatar.
